Restaurant Waldgarten, Winterthurstrasse, Zurich

I’m always curious for interesting locations. While the Restaurant Waldgarten is not a prime location, the spot between the highway and the quiet Irchel is interesting. Looking for some dinner I pulled up to the restaurant and it took me some time to figure out where the entrance is. Obviously the place seems to be home to local businessmen, politicians and sportspeople, all tilting abit to the rightwing. Nevertheless it has a nice heartfelt interior and looks like a place which is run with care. They sport a menu written on the wall and I decide to go with it. A nice spring salad was followed by some white Cavaillon asparagus. Now I’m not to keen on an egg and cheese on top of my asparagus, I think it distracts from the flavor. Looking past the toppings, massive and tasty asparagus had a nice slightly bitter flavor, maybe a bit on the heavy side. The veal escalope was cooked the way it should, the selection of vegetables as well, the drop of cream wasn’t for me. 60 CHF for the 3 course meal is okay (without drinks):

I hope you were there in spring! 🙂
Now they renovated the house (I’ve never been inside), but from the outside, it’s now orange.
