Rheinfelder Bierhaus, Niederdorf, Zurich
May
2013
There are two Rheinfelder places in Zurich, the slightly posher one being the Rheinfelder Bierhaus. Posh in the sense of a lower amount of openly alcoholic patrons, so that the level of down-to-earthness is even acceptable for local politicians to dine here. We’ve heard interesting stories of irate politicians who also seem to be in the business of indoor smoking making quite a scene here. But we are here for the food and the food only.
Quick dinner with a salad and liver with roeschti was the plan going in. The salad was mixed, but instead of every salad dressed individually, it was more of a case of dousing it with one sauce, not something which shows a great deal of care. The roeschti was pretty nice (and large), also the Leberli were prepared and seasoned well, not complaints.
If you want to give a tourist a good feeling for Swiss Beiz culture and food, this is a good bet, without going overboard on the bill.
