Dinings, Harcourt Street, London

Dinings is small restaurant featuring about 10 seats at the bar and 20 or so downstairs. It’s a play off a Japanese Tavern and serves mostly Japanese influenced dishes. Three dishes stood out for me. I didn’t get the concept at first, but there’s a selection of Tar Tar Chips stuffed with different options. A terrific selection of small bites to feast on, the subtle cornish crab being one of the favourites. The gyoza (fried dumplings) were delicate and well balanced, another strong recommendations. I am seldomly one to rave about desserts, but the creme brulee with green tea made my day.
Overall this is a place I’ve come to enjoy since it features a large variety, high quality ingredients and informality in one single place. Especially the Tar Tar chips deserve a special mention and I can safely attest that this is a restaurant I will come back over and over again.
