Restaurant Oberhof, Zürichbergstrasse, Zürich

Every now and then there’s a hidden gem one stumbles across, this time it’s the Restaurant Oberhof. The interior design is form the 50ties, but was updated a couple of years ago, a swiss Beiz interior but with slightly newer furniture. The crowd on a Tuesday night is one of the most homogeneous one ever seen, Swiss males, 60+, buttown down shirts and even some ties. It truly seems like the local gathering place for the people in the area.
Food is stoutly swiss, with no weird influences from anywhere else. I had a salad with house dressing (could have been a tad tastier) to start. The exciting dish was the Zunftspiess a skewer of pieces of liver, individually wrapepd in bacon, a nice slab of röschti and sauce. It felt like home.
I was unsure wether to actually publish this, after all I can’t reveal all my favourite spots, but then again my reader’s wellbeing is the only driving force behind the real picky gourmet.
