Café Mümpfeli, Wehntalerstrasse, Zurich

The Cafe Mümpfeli not only has a culinary calling, but is also a project to create a working environment for people who might not stand a chance elsewhere. It does so by creating an atmosphere which is welcoming and forgiving as well as an interesting salary plan, everyone earns the same regardless of what job they do. One might be skeptical wether the food is up to standards under such conditions, but rest assured it does! Lunch was a warm spanish vegetable soup full of flavour, followed up by a pork skewer, spätzli and pea shoots. Many other restaurants should take a lesson here on how to cook pea shoots, which often turn slightly mushy. These here were flavour full, crunchy and simply done to perfection – what a pleasant surprise. Prices are very agreeable – perfect place for a lunch or small dinner if you’re in the area.
