A simple fried egg was up first truffle shavings where flavorful and complemented the bread for sopping up the egg yolk. The Gnocchi where good, I like them superairy, these ones where slightly airy but with the generous helping of parma ham, I was willing to overlook. No complaints on the delicate liver, which was nicely seasoned with herbs, however the saffron risoto wasn’t very good. It was too creamy (too much mascarpone ? ), lacked salt and saffron taste.
While I am skeptical of restaurant chains, you’ve got to leave one thing to the Bindella establishments, they’re experts in dealing with complaints. The maitre d’ took my feedback professionally and when I asked for the bill, the dessert was comped. She also gave me a more detailed feedback and apologized, there was an issue with the risotto, she had tasted it herself. I thought that was an excellent way of dealing with criticsm.
For a solid experience in nice surrounings you cannot go wrong with the Conti – is it the best italian restaurant in Zurich ? No, but it’s in the Top 10. Prices are at regular Zurich inner-city level.
