Slow Monday @ Vineria Centrale, Neugasse, Zurich

2014
Vineria Centrale replaced the former Chrigi’s Bar, a venue which I never had the chance to visit. Vale Fritz is the chef of the day in this concept called Slow Monday. A guest chef cooks in the bar and diners grab one of the 4-5 tables or eat directly at the bar. It pays to show up early, after 18.30 the place fills up rapidly and some people leave since they simply have no chance of getting fed.
The meal starts of with a perfect onsen egg, accompanied with tomatoes, peperonata, pine tree nuts and herbs from Vale Fritz’ garden. A great dish, expertly composed and executed & the herbs were the finishing touch which made this plate extra special. The beef paillard with garden vegetable was decent, very tasty vegetables but the dairy component on the vegetables added a layer of unneeded heaviness. Dessert was a lovely creme brulee, but the true stars were the berries on top. Slow Monday is a great way to start your week, and Vineria Central worth a visit also on other days. Just look at the sexy countertops – it doesn’t get much more real.
