The Alte Post in St. Gallen is one of these restaurants which is called a “Erst Stock Beiz”, referring to their locations on the first floor. Rather quaint and smallish, with lots of charme and slightly lower ceilings as was common in the olden days.
When in St. Gallen, you cannot escape the inevitable Bratwurst. It’s made of minced veal (at least 50.1 % that is) and is white in color. Personally I prefer pork Bratwurst since it has more aroma and generally more taste. The one here was pretty decent, a nice salty backdrop which paired with the good serving of Roeschti. Nothing can go wrong here. Except if you order mustard, which makes the Bratwurst better, but the locals think it’s absolutely frivolous. Ignore them.
