Low and behold it’s the third restaurant at this location, but to cut right to the chase the one with the best food so far! I love the Japanese Cuisine and Restaurant Kokoro is doing an outstanding job.

Alone the menu is overwhelming and gets the juices flowing in your mouth. It has so many delicacies you will not find in 98% of Japanese places in Switzerland, it feels excited. Another thing we noticed was that the waitress knew here stuff! You could ask all kind of weird questions and all of them were answered expertly, definitely a nice change from all those places with badly trained staff.

The first appetizer were some lightly eggplant tempura sticks (I’m sure the japanese name is so much more elegant). Crunchy, full of salty & smoky flavor without being heavy or oily… we were off to a great start. None of the dishes to follow disappointed. Calamares tempura and the sushi rolls, scored high points in terms of product used, seasoning and preparation. I could have gone on eating for quite some time. Main courses where some sizzling tuna steaks and pork served like you’d get them in a chinese restaurant but tastier, not as fatty and with some vegetables.

The only thing we truly didn’t like was dessert. I like Macha (Greentea) but the Greantea tiramisu didn’t work for me, it was weird texturally and just didn’t resonante. But then again – for once – who cares. Stick to the savoury bits and pieces and you’ll do great – finally a japanese place I truly like!
