The Butcher, Stüssihofstatt, Zürich

Sometimes it only takes a great photo on the homepage to make one interested in visiting. The Butcher has a great visual impression and caught my attention. You can either order to go or get served at the low-key tables, the approach is clearly geared towards high-turnover with decent prices to get people in and out of the door quickly.
The – according to the waitress – homemade tortilla chips fell flat. They were simply drenched in too much oil and while we liked the salsa, the chip didn’t sparkle as much as we would have liked to. The chocolate milk shake could have been a tad thicker, we like an almost snow like consitency but the rich chocolate flavor was lovely. The burger comes along pretty unassuming, a plain looking bun covering a tasty burger. It didn’t disappoint it is a good burger. Epecially the super fresh vegetables and the perfectly cooked medium rare meat (which I was asked how I would like it done) made for a great meal. The only caveat were the fries, they were covered with some homemade seasoning which was simply too much and strangely enough some of the fries where somewhat sweet.
We liked the Butcher’s burger which is the main thing, the other bits and pieces need some work. Funny is their quote on the website – calling their burgers “Healthy as fuck”. My kind of place!
