    Sashimi Duett auf Quinoa

Gustav is part of the inevitable gentrification process at Lagerstrasse. What used to be a dump used by SBB for who knows what, is now a modern mix of shops, restaurants and appartments. Gustav is clearly a restaurant which is after business and more affluent crowd. It’s a nice alternative to yet another take-away popping up like mushrooms on a misty autumn morning.

Serene and classy is what I’d call the interieur, then again what do I know. The business lunch I chose came with two courses. First one was a Sashimi duett which consisted of tuna and beef on a bed of Quinoa salad. Vivid decorations on the outskirts of the plate. The only thing I didn’t like was that the beef was cut too thick and made it chewy. Main course was very nice. Slow and long cooked beef cheeks with perfectly sliced vegetables in what was most likely a Macédoine form (cubes > 5mm) & some tasty noodles. Service was impeccable. A small sauciere was served with additional jus, pretty classy! I did smile – the very young gentlemen anounced it like Lasse Kjus the norwegian ski racer. I liked the Gustav – it’s pricey for lunch but they deliver on what they promise and it is certainly a more settled, classy and slightly formal experience. A nice change.
