It’s been well discussed and reviewed – the Mitsu Mitsu opened up next to Ikoo (former Ooki). Japanese cuisine is slowly but steadly increasing it’s foothold in Zurich. The key thing currently seems to be focusing on other dishes than just Sushi in order to showcase the intricate and delicate nature of Japanese cuisine.

The suggestion is to order 1-2 small and 1 large dish per person, everything is served family style (or Izakaya). We order almost everything to satisfy our curiosity and it was well worth it. The dishes we liked most were the Tempura – loved the Matcha salt – slow cooked salmon in a miso broth of utmost quality and the miso laced eggplants – rich and smokey.

Why can you tell that the place is great? Every single dish we ordered was lovely. By focussing on a dozen or so dishes, quality and consistency is high – much to our delight. A little gem in the making, the only challenge will be to keep the menu changing every now and then to attract repeat business. And maybe a larger sake selection or even a sake pairing would add a little bit more to the meal. Prices are Zurich style.
