Studer’s Speisewirtschaft und Bar, Escher Wyss Platz, Zurich

No pictures – we were sitting outside and it was too dark. Studer’s is located in the drinking spot for youths and secondos in Zurich, between Escher Wyss Platz and Bahnhof Hardbrücke. It seems a bit strange place for a restaurant to open, since it’s less of a fine dining spot. The menu is very concise and has a couple of traditional swiss dishes on it. I reserved a table for three at 8pm on Saturday night, it wasn’t necessary the place was almost deserted. Either it hasn’t caught on yet or the crowd just isn’t digging it. I had a salad with house dressing (italian) – decent, but nothing to come back for – and ordered the pasta with chanterelles (Einerschwämmli) and cherry tomatoes. It was delicious and I was quite surprised, I’d expected worse.

All in all a good place to grab a decent bite to eat with friends – not recommended for a more serious dining experience. Salad, Pasta, 2x 3dl Turbinenbräu beer, 37 CHF, quite okay for a sit down meal.
