Cafe Oerlikerhuus is not the place to impress business partners, WAGs or step-moms, but it is good for showing of to your Dadaist friends or that odd surrealist painter you know. It’s completely full for lunch and the interior is a mix of old-school Beiz (smell / menu / patrons) and new Cafeteria (smell / decor / furniture). The salad was an unexciting menu salad which you’ll find pretty much anywhere when going for lunch. The Appenzeller Cordon bleu wasn’t a very good one. The meat, breading and filling didn’t come together nicely, it felt industrial and was lacking care. Another cardinal sin which was comitted was serving it with soggy fries. While cheap, not necessarily a great place for lunch. The most exciting thing is walking into the place and feeling the rather unique atmosphere, that weird mix of modern interior and old-school restaurant atmosphere.
