Thanks god for the Gastro Taxi in the canton of Thurgau, otherwise we would have never made it to the Frohsinn in Uesslingen. Metzgete is essentially everything you can dream of from the pig. The Metzgete at the Frohsinn is so popular, that not only can you not reserve, you arrive and wait at a makeshift bar until your name gets called. Works pretty good, since people eat rather early here and are quick to get back home, still with a party of eight, you’re in for a bit of a wait.

Instead of hassling over what to get in details, we do two of everything and then order more as we feel like it. It was a true feast, dipping into every plate left and right. The best component was the liver sausage, closely followed by the black pudding. An honorable mention goes out to the breaded pork schnitzel, most of the time these are bland and a sorry excuse, this one here was tasty and juicy. Also not to miss was the excellent Vermicelles we tried for dessert. The Frohsinn is a good place to go for a Metzgete, the more the merrier. The prices are very fair – we ate over 30 dishes, had 20 odd grappas, four bottles of wine, plus other stuff for less than a 100 swiss franks per head. I would like to make a side note that it can be a good idea to bring a plastic bag and some paper tissues with you. One of our (anonymous) dining colleagues got sick on the train back home and the aforementioned items came in handy. Lucky me that I was sitting one compartment away from the unfortunate diner.
