From the outside it’s a proper pub, on the first floor a small restaurant caters to hungry caterers the Upstairs at the 10 Bells. From the first dish which had pigs head, daikon, mustard and dripping toast you could see the culinary vision the Upstairs follows. The dish wasn’t the best combination, but then again who would be bold enough to complain about pigs head. More interesting was the combination of cauliflower, anchovy and lamb sweetbreads, where the flavours came together in a more consistent fashion. Grouse is a game bird and not that common in restaurants, unfortunatley this one here was on the rather bitter side, something which makes you want to stay away from trying it again.
