What brings you to Dietikon ? Steel, Yodeling and the restaurant Krone. The garden outside is nice, save for the slightly distracting road just outside the garden wall. To test the kitchen I opted for the five course menu. The chanterelles where tasty and in combination with the salad this made for a refreshing start of the meal. The thai glas noodle soup wasn’t to my liking. It was too bland and was lacking in aromatics which I would expect from a south east asian soup. Here it was more of an afterthought. No complaint on the eggplant ravioli, except that the arugula from the first dish was also plated here on the pasta course.

The fish course was excellent, lovely texture on the fish and scallop, lovely buttery rice and a rich an intense sauce to top it off. But again, the spinach which was already present in the pasta course surfaced once again here with the fish. The Krone is great if it sticky to the more classic dishes and stays of the abyss of asian-inspired dishes, I’d leave that to the canteens of this world. Also at this level it can’t happen that you repeatly use components (spinach, arugula) which have already been a part of another course. After all this was the tasting menu and can be planned ahead of time.
