La Tacqueria, Altstetterstrasse, Zurich

Authentic Mexican Food in Zurich is the motto of La Taqueria which opened in Altstetten. Authentic is one of those claims which is hard to prove, since it often refers to an image of the past. It’s a counter operated dining establishment, you place your order at the central desk, grab a table & a beer and wait for the food to be served at your table.
The Fish Taco was okay and acutally very fairly priced at CHF 5.90. The fish was battered and fried, but it was a healthy portion and had a touch of mayo which went well. The quesadilla had a good level of crunch on the outside and tasty insides. The Super Papitas are some french fries topped with all kinds of Mexikan bits and pieces which make it the equivalent to the hipster poutine.
The tomato salsa could have been chopped up into smaller pieces and some Pico de Gallo would have been nice as well. Comparing it to the El Luchador the Tacueria wins the money for value award, but El Luchador has the better Tacos and feels fresher.
