Snack Stand, Temple Bar, Dublin, Ireland

May
2011

27. May 2011

In a moment of weakness, early in the morning, curiosity got the better of me. I ordered Taco Fries at a Kebab stand in Dublin. It tasted the way it looked – even the intoxicated state of mind couldn’t help read more…

The Church, Mary St, Dublin, Ireland

May

24. May 2011

The Church seemed like an interesting place, since it actually is a bar and a restaurant in an old church which still has a big organ at the back. We were shown to a table which was too small for read more…

Sternen, Sennhüttestrasse, Wangen b. Dübendorf

May

18. May 2011

Sternen in Wangen sounds like a pretty normal restaurant somewhere in the uncharted areas around Dübendorf. But I was in for a pleasant surprise. Treating myself to a glass of champagne I opted for adapting the regular menu to get read more…

After a hard day’s work at the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke on the way home we stopped over at Brunnen for dinner at the Weisses Rössli. Entering the restaurant just 50 meters or so back from the quaint lake, a red read more…

Horny’s Metzg, Albisriederplatz, Zurich

13. May 2011

I’ve voiced concerns about the quality of the Tagesanzeigers food section, but I have to say the article about Steak was pretty decent. Since meat prices are reported to rise to levels of caviar by 2050 I’m happy for every read more…

A friend told me about a place called Dakini and a guy called Vale Fritz cooking there. Being the ever inquisite omnivore a trip to this restaurant was high on my list. The Dakini is a B & B by read more…

Cafe des Amis, Nordstrasse, Zurich

26. April 2011

Cafe des Amis was put onto my list of must visit places by a fellow bloggerette. The place is packed on tuesday night, and the crowd is rather typical this close to Kafi Schnaps and Nordbrücke. The drink menu is read more…

Adlisberg, Zurichberg, Zurich

Apr

25. April 2011

Weather over Easter was spectacular, so we went for an early dinner at the Adlisberg. Even though this belongs to the old money district Zurichberg, it feels more like a country-side restaurant with the cows grazing in the back. The read more…

Funny enough, I thought there was a place in Aarau called the Riviera, but apparently that was a restaurant. Right next to it is one of the pinnacles of fine dining for Aarau, the Muerset. It sports multiple dining areas read more…

Asparagus are visible at all the supermarkets, flown in from all over the world. It takes great restraint to avoid ordering some, since after winter the craving is enormous. When the waiter beams at me and tells me that they read more…

Choose the next restaurant

Have you ever been interested in sending your favorite food critic to a restaurant of your choosing ?

Now it’s possible! The rules are simple, you pay for a dinner for two, including drinks. If it’s outside of Zurich an SBB half-fare ticket is added as well, your choice wether you want to join or not. So as an example if you want me to check out Ömer’s Imbiss, two Kebabs and two beers, plus the ticket would mean coughing up roughly 50 CHF, a visit at Mr. Rochat’s might be a tad more expensive.
